In our very first episode Sandy introduces the reasons behind creating the podcast. She has a quick chat with Nicky Tuck, the GM at Akarana Marine Sports Charitable Trust who have helped make recording possible through their generosity in lending space at the Hyundai Marine Sports Centre. 

Nicky reflects their mission to provide safe pathways to the sea for all, and to connect our community to a more fun, active lifestyle. This is as well as their goals to provide a safe, accessible environment in which our people can explore some of Aotearoa New Zealand's most valuable taonga (treasure): our moana (sea) and whenua (land). They actively promote non-profit water safety education and recreation opportunities, and build stronger community connections via their inclusive marine-based multi-sport facility.
